GAME NOTES:
- Stay at even strength. Simple as that. If there’s one key for Summerland it’s play at even strength. At even strength, they have a chance to beat the Osoyoos Coyotes. They skate well enough, they’re talented enough, and quite frankly they’re due.
- As much as they don’t like to do it, Summerland might just eventually have to put the shadow on Coyotes captain Rainer Glimpel. He’s burned them to the tune of 13 points (4G+9A) in 5 games played this year, and 37 points (10G+27A) in 22 regular season games he’s played against Summerland in his 3 year junior career.
- It’s not just Glimpel you have to watch out for with the Coyotes though. As discussed with Head Coach & GM Ken Law prior to Dec 29th game, they have 18 skaters every night that give you their best, and ‘there are no eagles.’ That interview can be heard HERE.
- Summerland will see the return in eligibility of Jake Mullen for Sunday’s game vs. Osoyoos. Mullen is eligible to return after missing the past 4 games due to suspension incurred in a melee on December 18th with Kelowna.
- The Steam will be looking to bounce back after a tough loss to Chase on Friday that saw them lose in OT after being up 4-2 with 2:20 remaining in the game.
- Their big guns seem to be clicking right now, which will hopefully help them Sunday vs. Osoyoos. The likes of Riley Pettitt, Jack Mills, Paulsen Lautard, Josh Pilon and Wyatt Gale have all been clicking of late and playing good hockey. If they continue that, Summerland stands a good chance to win on Sunday.
- The Steam have played in ‘destination’ games twice before with the Osoyoos Coyotes. Both in Oliver. The Steam are 0-2 at the Oliver Arena.
- Puck drop goes at 1:35 from the Oliver Arena in Oliver, BC. Please follow along with @KIJHLCoyotes on Twitter, as I’m not sure I’ll be at the game.
